I was recently given the opportunity to do a review of a software called Cookin’ Recipe Organizer. I have a ton of cook books and pieces of paper that I have recipes on, but I am not organized with them at all. There are a lot of recipes that I like in them, but to find one so I can make it again is not fun. I pull all the books out and sit down until I either find it, or give up and head to the internet to find something else to make.
This software solves that issue, with this software, you have a database of recipe’s available to you. They have quite a few recipes already included in the database for you. You can also take all the recipes you currently have and enter them into the database. I am doing this so I can have my cabinet space back and donate some books!
One of the many great features of this software, when you can not find the recipe you want, you can do a search using the built in search feature. It will search where through specific sections, your entire database, or it will search the internet. I used this feature to find quite a few recipes and then imported them so I have them in my database now. All you have to do is click import, it does the rest for you. You can even do a search based on the ingredients you have.
This is the first screen that you see when you launch this software. You have access to everything you need right from this screen. The main part of the screen gives you a link for the most popular searches that week, what updates are out there, monthly news letters and support. The left panel gives you access to your database.
This is the shopping list page where you can select your recipes and then go through and check off the items you already have so you know what to buy. It even breaks it down into categories like dairy, produce, etc.
When you click on a recipe in the left panel, it shows up on the right side and you scroll down to see the ingredients and directions. You can click on the button where it gives you the serving amount and tell it how many people you want to serve, the software will adjust the ingredients for you.
If you know other people who use this software, you can exchange recipes or even entire databases. I think that is a great feature. While I was using this software, I ended up getting a virus on my pc. I learned quickly how easy it is to back up the database and be able to save everything I had already imported into it.
My favorite part of this software is the portion the are currently working on. This software is going to be able to sync with your Smart Devices. I could not tell you how many times I get a call asking me to make something for dinner and I can not recall all the ingredients. Once this feature is working, it will be on my phone.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
