This was not our first Day out with Thomas, this one was just as much fun as the others we have attended. The only difference is that my youngest who usually clings to mom and dad at these events actually let go and had fun. It was a great change to see him really enjoying the activities they had and asking to do the over and over.
The first thing we did was the huge inflated slide, this one was repeated more times than I could count! Next was the bouncy caterpillar, it was so good to see him going in this one because there were a lot of kids and he normally runs away from things like that.
Of course we stood in line to ride Thomas the Train, they had a small mishap with the 12:00 ride and not everyone got to get on the train. Luckily it was handled quickly and they got is in the front car of the next ride. It was so nice to see how quickly they were on top of the issue and able to resolve it to the satisfaction of several parents, I was definitely impressed. This was the first time we were able to ride in the car next to Thomas, it was nice, my little one got to hear him whistle and see the smoke come out of the stack, that is not something you see from the rest of the train. We loved the views along the ride. It was definitely worth the extra wait!
They had the exploration station where they had mega blocks, train tables, stamping tables, etc. We were at a store in December where they had stuff like this set up and my son begged to leave, today he jumped right in and played. They also had an area set up for story time, you could sit and watch Thomas shows, this is the perfect opportunity to take a quick break in a shaded quiet area. You could also get temporary tattoos (we did skip that, not quite ready yet). Of course there was food, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, funnel cakes, fresh lemonade, and ice cream. They had a tent setup for you to eat but there was a band playing there which was too loud for my youngest (he has always been sensitive to sound). Of course you could not miss the gift shop filled with everything imaginable for Thomas fans. It was a lot of fun watching all the little kids faces light up, no matter which way you turned there was a small child pointing out something that they were excited about.
Just in case you have never been to The Florida Railroad Museum, they are open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. year round. You can head over there with your family to enjoy train rides all year long! Their departure times for the train rides are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. They also have special events throughout the year for you to check out so I would suggest following them on Facebook or visit their website
If you are unable to make it to this event, they have events taking place in several locations. Check out their website for more locations, or head here to get your tickets, there is still time as they are hear 3/23 and 3/24/2013, you can also follow them on Facebook. My family and I will be there on March 16 so come back and I will share the experience in another post! Come out and join us as we spend a day with Thomas and his friends!
We obviously had a great time, getting to watch youngest son open up to new things was absolutely amazing. It is definitely a new thing for him and opens us up to so many things to do with him now.
I received tickets for advertising for the event. I was not required to do a post about our attending the event, I wanted to share some of the great activities from the event with you.

This looks so fun!!! A Day Out with Thomas is coming here in May, and I can’t wait to take my son.
I would have loved to attend one of these Thomas events when the kids were younger. It looks like you had a lot of fun!
Riding next to Thomas is a definite treat!!!!
What a fun family day! The best part – isn’t this the 2nd big event your little fellow has enjoyed the big event? HUGE! Love it when the little kids start growing up and enjoying events instead of being clingy! Yay!
The second one that shows he is coming out of his shell quite a bit. I am so excited to think we can go and do more of these outings.
OMG that looks like so much fun! my daughter would have had a blast at an event like that!
Going as soon as it is near us
