I love salsa, it is one of those things that we keep on hand all the time. Salsa’s are usually pretty healthy for you, no or low fat, low calorie yet packed with flavor. I can not tell you how many times I have gone to make something to eat and had no ideas or limited ingredients, I rescue myself with salsa. I can add salsa to a meal that would otherwise be bland and it adds flavor without a lot of work.
I received four jars of salsa from Mrs. Renfro’s Gourmet Salsas so I could do a review. I was lucky enough to pick out the ones I wanted to test which gave me the opportunity to step out of the box and try some I have been hearing about. The first one that I tried was the Pineapple Salsa. My husband and I both enjoyed this one, I decided to use part of it for some Tilapia that I had thrown on the George Foreman. I was not at all disappointed, it added a sweet and spicy flavor to the fish that was delicious. I did not have to do anything else so it made for an easy and healthy meal that we all enjoyed.
Next was the Roasted Salsa, as I said, I put salsa on everything. I used this one form my omelet. Again I was not disappointed with the flavor. This one is my husbands favorite so he has claimed the rest of the bottle for himself.
For the Pomegranate Salsa, we used it just last night on some salmon. I love salmon and could eat it everyday, the salsa added a bit of sweetness to it. I was so glad I chose this one as it went perfectly with the salmon.
I also received the Garlic Salsa. I used this one for a quick and easy dinner with corn, black beans and chicken, I will be posting the recipe Friday and will update with a link when I do. This is another meal that is really easy and thanks to the salsa, full of flavor.
Of course we tried them with chips and I enjoyed all of them. My husband did not care for the Garlic Salsa that way but he is not a fan of garlic. He did like it mixed with the corn and black beans though.
If you are looking for salsa that are great for cooking to help for those quick weeknight meals or just for snacking, I would check out Mrs. Renfro’s Gourmet Foods, I have a few more that I want to try but am staying clear of the ones with the ghost or habenaro peppers in them. I want to try them but am so afraid so if you do, let me know how spicy they are! They are on Facebook and Twitter.
I received the above mentioned products in order to do a review, however all statements made are my own and were not influenced.
